Bras d'Or Yacht Club in Baddeck has been delivering sailing lessons for more than 60 years. Our tried and true Kingfisher prams, our fleet of C420s, and our fleet of Optis offer excellent learning opportunities in the warm and protected waters of the Bras d'Or Lakes. Sailing is a lifelong sport that we are excited to introduce to all regardless of age or ability. Check out our Learn to Sail courses!!! Pre-registration will be opened two weeks in advance for our yacht club members and then we will open registration to the public. We reserve the right to limit registrations to one session to provide an opportunity for all to participate. Thank you!! Depending on interest, we will offer Adult Learn to Sail programs. Session 4
CANSail Level 2 is a REQUIRED PREREQUISITE in order to register for this course. Students registered for this course may be asked to provide proof they have achieved at least their CANSail 2 level. Students who don't have their CANSail 2 will not be able to participate in this course.
These programs will primarily be taught in our Club 420's, and Optis. Students enrolled in CANSail 3-6 programs will be taught racing skills, as well as advanced theory. These courses are prerequisites to becoming a CANSail certified coach. The BYC's Cansail programs are 2 weeks in duration, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 4pm.

WetFeet – Introduction to sailing for sailors aged five to eight years and designed for implementation in an Optimist type Dinghy.
Wetfeet will primarily be taught in our Kingfisher Prams, and in select circumstances our Optis. This program is a half-day program taking place over the course of a week (Mon-Fri) in the mornings 9am-12pm.

This course is a 6-week long introductory program that focuses on various sailing techniques and skills taking place 1 night per week. The program will be taught using our double-handed 420 sailboats. Class dates are TBD based on demand and will take place from 6 pm to dusk (time-varying on time of year).
